Where to Buy Board Games in Chiang Mai
Chiang Mai has only one dedicated board game store, so many people also shop at the big malls or order online. Opening hours, prices, and stock change, so it is worth checking before you go.
Board game specialists
The best choice and the most advice.
1. Golden Goblin Games
The only dedicated board game store in Chiang Mai: board games, card games, miniatures, and role-playing games. It has been open since 2015 and is an official Games Workshop and Wizards of the Coast retailer. If you would rather not make the trip to San Sai, they also ship anywhere in Thailand.
2. Siam Board Games
One of the largest board game companies in Thailand. They sell licensed international games translated into Thai, along with games of their own design. You can order on their website or through their Line account, @siamboardgames, and have it delivered to Chiang Mai.
3. Battlefield Bangkok
A Bangkok hobby shop with a large online store covering board games, miniatures wargaming, collectible card games, and role-playing games. A good option when you want a specific title that is not in stock in Chiang Mai.
Malls and department stores in Chiang Mai
Good for mainstream family and kids’ games, with a more limited choice.
4. Toys”R”Us
A toy chain with a board games section, both in store and on its Thailand website. A practical stop for mainstream family and kids’ games, and the website shows what is currently available before you head out.
5. Central
The toy sections of the Central department stores are worth a look for popular family games. The choice is limited and changes often, so do not expect modern strategy titles.
6. Robinson
A warehouse-style department store that sells toys alongside clothes, shoes, and household goods. Another place to check for mainstream family games while you are already at the mall.
7. B2S
A bookstore and stationery chain from the Central group, with branches in two of Chiang Mai’s biggest malls. Worth a look for popular family and card games alongside books and stationery, though the stock varies from branch to branch.
8. Big C
A supermarket chain with a toy aisle. Handy if you need a classic game or a card game quickly and cheaply, but the selection is basic.
Online marketplaces
Convenient and often cheaper, but compare sellers and check what you are buying.
9. Shopee
The largest online marketplace in Thailand, with many popular board games from a wide range of sellers. Compare prices, check seller ratings, and look for sealed, original editions.
10. Lazada
Another big marketplace, known for its delivery network. Worth comparing with Shopee for the same title, since prices and sellers differ.
11. Amazon
Useful for titles you cannot find in Thailand. Items ship internationally or through a package forwarder, so allow extra time and check the shipping and import costs before you order.
12. Temu
Very low prices, but orders usually ship from China, so expect a longer wait. If the price of a well-known game looks too good to be true, it is probably not the real thing.
Not sure which game to buy? Rent it first
A good board game can cost anywhere from 500 to 3,000 THB. Try it for a day or a weekend first, and only buy what actually gets played.
